WHAT WE HAVE DONE2005 PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATIONTabletop Exercise (TTX) CRA, Inc. supported U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Office for Domestic Preparedness (USDHS/ODP) for the 2005 Presidential Inauguration Tabletop Exercise (TTX). This exercise was conducted on December 8, 2004 at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C.. The exercise offered senior leaders an opportunity to discuss response plans and procedures in relation to a simulated terrorist attack on this designated National Special Security Event (NSSE). In addition, officials exercised the collective decision-making process when confronting this simulated attack. CRA-USA designed the tabletop to emphasize the decision-making responsibilities of those participating in and responding to various Inauguration Day scenarios. In order to stimulate the widest range of collaborative discussion, this facilitated TTX was comprised of 13 scenarios involving civil disturbances, suspicious activities and packages, biological agents, and explosives. Command Post Exercise (CPX) CRA, Inc. supported the 2005 Presidential Inauguration Exercise Series Command Post Exercise (CPX) held on January 9, 2005. The Command Post Exercise involved various operational command centers in the National Capitol Region, in preparation for the Presidential Inauguration, held on January 20, 2005. The CPX was the second exercise in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Office for Domestic Preparedness (USDHS/ODP)-sponsored 2005 Presidential Inauguration Exercise Series. It was designed to increase the preparedness of the participating Federal, Department of Defense, State, and, local entities involved in security and public safety planning for the Presidential Inauguration. The CPX followed a tabletop exercise conducted on December 8, 2004. The 2005 Presidential Inauguration Exercise Series was supported by USDHS/ODP, the U.S. Secret Service, and the 2005 Presidential Inauguration Exercise Series Planning Committee. The CPX was designed as a 2-hour operations center-based exercise that involved several Federal, Department of Defense, Commonwealth of Virginia, State of Maryland, District of Columbia, and local agencies involved with the 2005 Presidential Inauguration. The exercise specifically tested the functional command and control components of a response to simulated incidents. The CPX also aimed at executing specific plans and procedures, and applied established policies, plans, and procedures under crisis conditions through particular functional command centers.
