February 3 – This Day in CRA History
On this day in 2013, Superbowl XLVII was played at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. In the preceding months, CRA worked with the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) and the New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (NOHSEP) by designing and conducting an HSEEP-compliant Tabletop Exercise (TTX) and communications drill to support preparedness efforts for Super Bowl XLVII and Mardi Gras. The exercises were was designed to stress emergency responders with a focus on medical surge capabilities and emergency coordination processes involving local area emergency services personnel, hospitals, and private ambulance providers. Over 70 different state, local, and private sector organizations participated in the exercise events, which resulted in a wealth of best practices and lessons learned.
